"Space Bandits" is a CD release by the legendary British space-rock pioneers Hawkwind, issued by the specialist catalogue and reissue label Cherry Red Records. The album presents Hawkwind's trademark fusion of psychedelic rock, cosmic atmospheres and driving riffs, enhanced by swirling synths and expansive soundscapes. Listeners can expect long-form tracks that build from hypnotic grooves into soaring, interstellar journeys, combining heavy guitar lines with imaginative arrangements and a distinctly sci-fi lyrical vision. This edition on CD offers clear, powerful sound, making it ideal both for long-time fans who want to revisit the band's classic era and for new listeners discovering Hawkwind's space-rock universe for the first time. The mood ranges from propulsive and energetic to atmospheric and introspective, always retaining that sense of cosmic exploration that made the group so influential within psychedelic and progressive rock circles.
Hawkwind, formed in the late 1960s in the UK, are widely regarded as one of the foundational bands of space rock. Over the decades, they have built a large and dedicated cult following, thanks to their intense live performances, elaborate light shows, and a long series of albums that pushed the boundaries between rock, psychedelia and electronic experimentation. The band has inspired countless artists in rock, metal and alternative music, and many of their records are considered milestones of underground and progressive culture. With a constantly evolving line-up and sound, Hawkwind have maintained a reputation for artistic independence and innovation, helping to define what space rock would become for future generations.
Cherry Red Records is a long-established independent label based in the UK, known above all for carefully curated reissues, archival editions and specialist catalogue releases across rock, punk, new wave, prog, indie and more. With "Space Bandits" on CD, Cherry Red Records and Hawkwind offer a compelling snapshot of the band's cosmic creativity, combining immersive songwriting with the durable, collectible appeal of the compact disc format. Whether you're expanding a Hawkwind collection or looking for a gateway into space rock, this release provides a powerful, atmospheric listening experience that showcases why the band continues to be celebrated as one of the genre's true originals.
I really love the music of this band from the 70's. Then in the 80s the band's style changed a little, which was enough to make me forget about it. I decided to see what happened to the band in the 90s and ordered this album. To my surprise, the CD contains very interesting music, although not the same as on the first four albums, but also good. Perhaps it's worth listening to the band's albums over the past 30 years.
