The talented Germans' previous album, "Sagas," sparked a frenzy among metalheads across Europe. A stunning musical canvas that seamlessly blended folk and metal elements, it couldn't go unnoticed. Accordingly, "Rekreatur" was expected to be, if not a step forward, then at least a repeat of its predecessor's success. But, let's be honest, things didn't work out that way. First, the departure of the band's vocalist and drummer took its toll. It's not as if their replacements were just anyone, but they weren't truly effective. In particular, the vocals on "Rekreatur" are for some reason pushed to the forefront, often relegating certain instruments to the background, which sometimes prevents potentially powerful tracks from fully unfolding. On "Sagas," this was all fine and dandy. No, the album is good, one way or another. Everything is expertly crafted, recorded, and played to a high standard. But it's not perfect, because there's much to compare it to. The new album falls short of "Sagas" in every aspect, some more, some less. But most importantly, the new work doesn't form a cohesive whole; there are even parts that feel out of place, ones you just want to erase. There's none of that cohesion, that sense of perfect harmony between all the components of Equilibrium's music—all the things that so many people love about "Sagas." However, the band is still recognizable from the very first chords and maintains its reputation, as they say. One can only hope it gets better.

The last album from this band I've appreciated: insane and furious guitars are followed by the drums and its double pedal, the impact with the voice is devastating, the bass loudly supports the songs and the keyboards - with attached arrangements - act as a perfect binder. And what about the instrumental and melodic passages? the proof of this is the now usual instrumental suite at the end of the album of about ten minutes. Present in a long and persistent manner, these moments literally immerge and relax the listener even more in the magical world of flutes, strings, horns, brasses and trumpets made in Equilibrium, making the experience and listening more complete.
