Description:

Extra-Infos: Purple
Description:"Footballhead is a Chicago-based alternative rock band headed by singer/songwriter Ryan Nolen. At its heart, the band is a vessel to toil forward through internal and external insecurity. It also serves the unrelenting spirit of new-millennium Midwestern youth, with MTV and skatepark dreams in the core of their memories. By blending pop structures with alt and emo sounds, Footballhead channels the frantic, dramatic, and anthemic to map the pressure points of existence. Itâ??s outcast music, revitalized in search of a modern, blissful awakening. Nolen was a skate kid from the western Chicago suburbs; the one who only kicked it with older neighborhood kids. The punkish attitude of late-90s and early-aughts alt-rock galvanized Nolen, from the infectiously fun music down to the fashion. A teenage relocation to Palm Springs, CA coincided with Nolen inundating himself with all the music he could: Warped Tour, 411 videos, Limewire, and the like. The Footballhead ethos comes from this comfort zone of pop impulses and raucous energy, carried by a DIY spirit that grants Nolen the autonomy to facilitate honesty and reflection. Joined by Adam Siska, snow ellet, Liam Burns, and Robbie Kuntz, Footballhead crafts supercharged rock songs like brief, open secrets. However weathered one is from their struggles and mistakes, this music offers unbridled fun as a reprieve, and salves for the shaken. These are your old friends inviting you in to commiserate, elevate, and believe." - PURPLE
"Overthinking Everything" is a full-length LP by Footballhead, released through the independent label Tiny Engines. The album captures a raw, melodic blend of emotionally charged indie rock and punk-leaning energy, with introspective lyrics that circle around self-doubt, anxiety and the fleeting comfort of late-night thoughts. Guitars shift between shimmering, melancholic riffs and punchy, distorted chords, supported by drums that alternate from restrained, almost fragile rhythms to cathartic outbursts. Over the course of the LP, Footballhead balance catchy hooks with a confessional tone, creating songs that feel intimate yet immediate, like pages torn from a personal diary and set to music. The production stays deliberately organic and unpolished, preserving the urgency and vulnerability of a band playing in a small room just in front of you, which makes the record especially engaging on vinyl.

Lyrically, "Overthinking Everything" revolves around the complexities of growing up, relationships, and the constant internal monologue that can turn every small decision into a major turning point. Refrains and melodies lodge themselves in the listener's mind, mirroring the circular nature of overthinking itself. The tracklist unfolds like a narrative arc: quieter, reflective passages lead into explosive, anthemic moments that invite you to sing along while still feeling the weight of what is being said. On LP, this dynamic is reinforced by the natural break between sides A and B: the first half sets the thematic and emotional stage, while the second half pushes deeper into moments of clarity, resignation and cautious hope.

Footballhead operate in the tradition of emotionally driven indie and punk-adjacent bands, channeling the immediacy of DIY scenes while adding a strong sense of melody and structure. Their songs feel tailor-made for crowded basement shows, yet they also reward close listening with headphones, where details in the arrangements and vocal phrasing come to the foreground. "Overthinking Everything" positions Footballhead as a band with a distinctive voice within this landscape, offering an LP that is both relatable and musically cohesive.

Tiny Engines, the label behind this release, is known as a dedicated independent imprint focused on underground and emerging artists. Over the years, Tiny Engines has built a reputation for nurturing bands from the indie, emo and punk spectrum, emphasizing authenticity, strong songwriting and careful curation of its roster. The label's releases often become word-of-mouth favorites among fans who value emotional depth and a strong DIY ethos. With "Overthinking Everything," Tiny Engines once again underlines its role as a platform for forward-thinking guitar music, giving Footballhead the space and support to present their vision in a carefully crafted LP edition.
