"Fin de Siècle (2CD)" is a deluxe double CD edition of The Divine Comedy's acclaimed album, presented in the classic CD format and released by Pias/Divine Comedy Records. On this expanded edition, the sophisticated chamber-pop arrangements, lush orchestrations and sharp, literary lyrics of Neil Hannon are given ample space to unfold, offering both the original album and additional material (such as bonus tracks, B-sides or alternative versions, depending on edition) that deepen the portrait of this creative peak. The songs move elegantly between grand, cinematic pop, nostalgic ballads and wry social observations, capturing the mood of the late 20th century with a mixture of irony, romance and melancholy. The carefully sequenced 2CD set invites listeners to experience "Fin de Siècle" not just as a collection of songs, but as a cohesive, thematically rich work that rewards attentive listening, whether you rediscover it as a long-time fan or encounter it for the first time. The CD format, with detailed booklet and artwork, underlines the album's conceptual strength and gives space for credits, lyrics and visuals that frame the music.
The Divine Comedy, led by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Neil Hannon, is one of the most distinctive voices in British and Irish pop. Known for their refined blend of orchestral pop, baroque influences and intelligent, often humorous storytelling, they achieved broad recognition in the 1990s and beyond. The band has scored chart success with singles like "Something for the Weekend" and gained a wider audience through songs that appeared in films and television series, including the beloved theme for "Father Ted" and the hit "National Express". Over the years, The Divine Comedy have built a loyal following and critical acclaim for their ambitious albums, inventive arrangements and Hannon's unmistakable voice, establishing themselves as a cult favourite far beyond the indie-pop scene.
Pias/Divine Comedy Records stands for artist-driven, independent music releases with a clear focus on quality and individuality. As a collaboration between a renowned independent distributor and label network and the artist's own imprint, this structure gives The Divine Comedy creative freedom while ensuring professional production standards and wide availability. Pias has a long tradition of working with innovative artists and nurturing long-term careers rather than chasing short-lived trends, while Divine Comedy Records underlines Neil Hannon's consistent artistic vision. Together, they present this 2CD edition of "Fin de Siècle" as a carefully curated package for listeners who appreciate sophisticated, timeless pop music beyond the mainstream.
