Originally released in 1972, "Close to the Edge" is considered a landmark of the genre, combining complex song structures, symphonic arrangements and virtuoso performances into an immersive, almost cinematic listening experience. The UHQCD (Ultimate High Quality CD) format focuses on improved material quality and more precise pit formation, enabling more accurate laser pickup and, under suitable playback equipment, a more detailed and transparent sound reproduction while remaining fully compatible with standard CD players. This edition is designed for listeners who want to experience the album's dynamics, its fine tonal nuances and spatial depth as faithfully as possible. The title suite "Close to the Edge" unfolds over a long, multi-part composition that moves between delicate, almost meditative passages and powerful, rhythmically complex sections. The remaining tracks continue this journey with rich harmonies, intricate bass lines, distinctive guitar work and expressive vocals, making the album a coherent, flowing work rather than a collection of isolated songs. The CD format ensures easy handling and durability, while the UHQCD specification is especially attractive to demanding listeners and collectors who value physical media and long-term archival quality. Yes are among the central pioneers of progressive rock. Formed in the late 1960s, the band became known for their elaborate compositions, technical virtuosity and characteristic blend of rock, classical influences and forward-looking sound design. Across their career, Yes have released numerous acclaimed albums and have built a reputation as one of the genre's most innovative and enduring groups, with "Close to the Edge" frequently cited as one of their artistic high points and a reference work in progressive rock discographies. Their music has influenced generations of bands and continues to attract new audiences through its musical depth and compositional sophistication. The manufacturer WEAJ stands within the Warner/WEA environment, a group associated with extensive experience in the production and distribution of high-quality audio releases. This background is reflected in a focus on carefully manufactured editions, reliable pressing standards and broad catalog access. Releases from this sphere often aim to combine high production quality with the preservation and renewed appreciation of classic albums, making this "Close to the Edge (UHQCD)" edition an attractive choice for both dedicated Yes fans and listeners discovering the album for the first time in an enhanced audio presentation. | | | Manufacturer No.: |
