Chet Baker has achieved almost as much notoriety for his exploits away from the recording studio, but it says much about his pedigree as a jazz musician that he is still a highly beloved performer and his catalogue is much revered. Chet, which was originally released in 1959 and is sub-titled The Lyrical Trumpet of Chet Baker, is one of his key album releases, featuring an impressive array of supporting musicians. Unlike several of his other albums from the era, it does not feature him singing, allowing his abilities as a trumpeter to come to the fore.Recorded in New York City on December 30, 1958 and January 19, 1959.
