Description:2018 release. Battistelli, who was recently touted as an Artist on the Rise from YouTube Music, co-wrote nine of the ten songs found on Own It. "The Breakup Song," which she penned with David Garcia and MercyMe's Bart Millard, is the album's first single and debuted in June. Fans have been waiting for a long time for new music from Battistelli. Many instantly responded to "The Breakup Song," calling the anthemic tune that sings about breaking up with fear "uplifting, hope-inspiring and empowering," with one fan even writing, "Halfway through my first time hearing it I purchased the song. [It was] so timely in my life. Thank you for this freedom from fear theme song of the year (and for life)!" Battistelli has also been waiting a long time to share these new songs, recently sharing that she had new songs ready for an album two years ago. Yet so much changed during that time, it would've been a completely different project than the declarative progressive pop songs comprised on Own It.
