Housed in a high-quality Rhino CD edition, this release is an essential document for both long-time fans and listeners discovering the Grateful Dead's 1970s live sound for the first time.
Grateful Dead, founded in the mid-1960s in California, became pioneers of the psychedelic and jam-band movement, known for their constantly changing setlists and extensive live improvisations. Over the decades, they built a devoted global fan community through relentless touring and landmark albums such as "Workingman's Dead" and "American Beauty," as well as iconic songs like "Truckin'," "Sugar Magnolia," and "Ripple." Their live recordings--especially from the 1970s--are widely regarded as some of the most influential concert documents in rock history, and "Cornell 5/8/77" stands prominently among them as a definitive example of the band's on-stage magic.
Rhino, the manufacturer of this edition, is renowned for its archival expertise and audiophile-oriented catalog, specializing in carefully curated reissues, box sets, and special editions. With a strong focus on sound quality, historically accurate presentation, and detailed packaging, Rhino has become a trusted name for collectors and music lovers who value well-researched, respectfully produced releases that preserve important moments in music history. | | | No. of tracks: |
