High-definition premium vinyl pressing for super fidelity. The way this music was meant to be heard.
180 gram VINYL -AUDIOPHILE PRESSING
By 1960 Coltrane had recorded many sessions as a sideman for Miles
Davis, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Kenny Burrell, and Tadd Dameron,
among others. He had also taped quartet albums, some of which were
issued under his own name while others were released under the name
of pianist Red Garland. His next release as a leader, Giant Steps, was the
confirmation of Coltraneâ??s importance in the jazz scene. There, for the first
time, all of the tunes were his, and his personal style appeared completely
developed. Coltrane Jazz was the next album to hit the shelves after Giant
Steps and marked the transition from his experimental groups to his final
classic quartet. Trane then recorded the music to be issued on The Avant
Garde (with Don Cherry), Coltraneâ??s Sound and the all-time classic My Favorite
Things, and after that he embarked on the making of Coltrane Plays the Blues,
a thematic LP consisting of six tunes based on the blues. â??Blues for Bechetâ?,
one of the two pieces on this album on which Trane plays the soprano sax,
is obviously dedicated to the jazzman who brought this instrument to jazz:
Sidney Bechet. Pianist McCoy Tyner sits out on â??Blues to Bechetâ? and both
takes of â??Blues to Youâ?, reducing the band to a trio on these tracks. - "Coltrane Plays The Blues" is a classic jazz album by the legendary saxophonist John Coltrane, now available in CD format from Poll Winne. Recorded in 1960 and released on Atlantic Records, this album showcases Coltrane's deep affinity for blues forms within the jazz idiom. Each track explores different moods and textures, highlighting his innovative improvisational style and emotional depth. This release by Poll Winne ensures high-quality sound reproduction for an immersive listening experience. John Coltrane remains one of the most influential figures in jazz history, celebrated for groundbreaking works like "A Love Supreme," "Giant Steps," and his collaborations with Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk. His contributions have shaped modern jazz profoundly. Poll Winne is renowned for producing premium music releases that honor both audio fidelity and artistic legacy. | | | No. of tracks: |
