Trivium stormed onto the metal scene in 2005 with their critically acclaimed debut album ASCENDENCY and continued their dominance with the follow-up THE CRUSADE. Now the band has unleashed their most cohesive and mature effort, SHOGUN. The band has taken their experience of the last 4 years touring the globe headlining the Black Crusade tour with DragonForce and Machine Head, touring with Lamb of God and Slayer and being hand picked to be direct support on the European legs of Iron Maidens world Tour. SHOGUN has also opened new doors to the mainstream for Trivium with a placement on the massive Madden video game series with "Into the Mouth of Hell We March." the band is poised to continue to knock the metal and hard rock community on it's ass with what will definitely be hailed as the metal album of year by critics and fans alike.
"Shogun" is a powerful CD release by the American metal band Trivium, issued by the renowned label Roadrunner Records. The album presents an ambitious blend of thrash, melodic death metal and modern metalcore elements, marked by intricate guitar work, dynamic tempo changes and a compelling balance of aggression and melody. Across its tracks, "Shogun" explores epic song structures and a darker, more mature atmosphere, offering both rapid-fire riff attacks and extended, progressive passages that reward attentive listening. The production emphasizes clarity and punch, allowing the precise drumming, harmonized leads and versatile vocals to stand out, from harsh screams to strong, memorable clean choruses.

Lyrically, "Shogun" weaves together themes inspired by mythology, conflict and inner struggle, giving the album a conceptual depth that goes beyond straightforward genre conventions. Fans of technically sophisticated metal will find complex arrangements, tight rhythm work and a high level of musicianship throughout the record, making this CD a strong choice both for long-time Trivium followers and for listeners discovering the band's heavier, more elaborate side. Packaged as a classic audio CD, "Shogun" is designed for those who still appreciate a complete album experience, from the first riff to the last atmospheric notes.

Trivium have established themselves as one of the most influential bands of the modern metal generation, known for combining high-speed riffs with melodic hooks and a tireless touring ethic. Over the years, they have built a dedicated international fan base, played major festivals worldwide and released several albums that consistently enter the charts in multiple countries. Their reputation rests on technical excellence, powerful live performances and a constant drive to push their sound forward without losing their metal roots.

The fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Trivium. The album was released worldwide on September 23, 2008. Shogun largely features a continuation of the band playing thrash metal, metalcore, and progressive metal, the latter exhibited by technical instrumentation and longer song lengths.

Deutsch Kostas P. - 18/Nov/2014 4 of 5 Stars!
From all trivium records, this one is the most unique, as it takes months to get used to the songs and teir complexity. The songs are quite long with countless riffs and parts, combined with the mythological aproach of the lyrics, give an epic sense to the album. It gets 4 out of 5 cause the songs, like i said, are very hard to listen the first time and this makes it a little boring.
