 | | Description: | Deep in the Ozarks, wrestling promoter Ed Hatch comes up with a great idea: pit his muscle-bound meathead of a wrestler against the local blacksmith, an Amazon named Sadie. Think of the publicity! Think of the ticket sales! This is the break Ed's been waiting for - until the wrestler loses his heart to the blacksmith and refuses to slam his ladylove into the canvas. In a real change-of-pace role, Bogart plays Ed in backwoods comedy chockablock with physical humor. Nat Pendleton (The Thin Man), who won a silver medal for wrestling in the 1920 Olympics, plays Ed's burly protege, and Louise Fazenda (Tille's Punctured Romance) portrays the blacksmith. Fazenda started her illustrious career as a screen comedienne in 1912 and was long married to Warner Bros. Producer Hal B. Wallis (Casablanca). Look for Ronald Reagan, who had been a sportscaster for a radio station in Iowa, as a big-city sportswriter."Swing Your Lady" is a classic 1938 comedy film available on DVD from Warner, one of the most renowned names in entertainment. The story follows promoter Ed Hatch as he brings his wrestler Joe Skopapoulos to a small town for an unusual match against a female blacksmith, leading to hilarious and heartwarming situations. Warner Bros., established in 1923, has produced countless cinematic milestones including "Casablanca," "The Matrix," and the Harry Potter series.
The film stars Humphrey Bogart, who would later become legendary for roles in "Casablanca" and "The Maltese Falcon." Allen Jenkins, known for his comedic timing in numerous films of the era, also features prominently. Louise Fazenda shines with her unique charm; she was celebrated for her work during Hollywood's silent era and early talkies.
