PICKS - HONKY TONK VOLUME 2Charlie Gillett was a great DJ and music man who brought his massive knowledge and broad taste to his seminal 70s radio show Honky Tonk. He is remembered here in a second selection of very Charlie Gillett music. While Honky Tonk was broadcast on a local radio station (it ran on Radio London from 1972 to 1978) it's influence was profound. Charlie introduced the world to Dire Straits and Elvis Costello, amongst others, along with the other fun, grown-up music you see listed here. Following the Dire Straits demo of 'Sultans of Swing' on the first volume, we include the very first Elvis Costello track to be played on the radio - the demo of 'Wave a White Flag'. Charlie made a selection of tracks for this second volume before his death in 2010 and we have narrowed it down to the 25 you see here. The whole project has been done in conjunction with the Gillett family."Charlie Gillett's Radio Picks - Honky Tonk Vol. 2" on CD is a carefully curated compilation that captures the spirit of Charlie Gillett's influential "Honky Tonk" radio show.
