The debut album from 1983 is a white-hot guitar fest of Radio Birdman/Saints/Stooges inspired punk rock. Contains some of the Rifles' most blazing and raw performances with the opening one-two punch of Killing Time and Society. This album set the pace for all their following releases with Lovelock's often ascorbic, wry observations of society, particularly Australia's suburban culture, topping the ferocious twin-guitar attack of Steedman and Morris.
This CD is housed in a jewel case with a folding 4-page booklet that has alternative 'black & green' front cover art. The catalogue number 'HOT 1001' is printed on the disc and spines, while the cat# variation 'Hot 1001' is printed on the tray artwork. On the disc artwork: P&C 1984 Beyond The Sea/The Celibate Rifles. This reissue CD was released in Australia on January 16th 1995 (The ARIA Report Issue #257). Please note that the audio found on this 1995 reissue CD contains the same remastering done by [a875094] and [a663227] for the October 1992 CD reissue of '[r=5328675]'. "Made in England". The tray artwork also includes addresses and contact info for both Hot Records in NSW, Australia and Sussex, UK, which indicates that this 1995 release was marketed in both Australia and the U.K. Track 7 is titled 'Gonna Cry' on the tray, but 'You're Gonna Cry' with the accompanying lyrics inside the booklet.
