Description:Western Canada's Mitochondrion belongs to an elite group of Death Metal bands throughout the world-among them Portal, Dead Congregation, Grave Miasma, Vasaeleth, Disma and Stargazer-who are pushing the boundaries of the genre, moving forward into uncharted realms of darkness. Formed several years ago in Victoria, British Columbia's Ross Bay Cemetery, the same hallowed ground which spawned legendary Canadian extreme metal maniacs Blasphemy, Mitochondrion made waves with their self-released 2008 debut, Archaeaeon. This unique take on death metal was a diabolical blend of Portal and Immolation, stretched out across ten-plus-minute songs.
