This version of Iii The Rommel Chronicles comes as a 1xCD. - .. CHRONICLES2013 album from the Dutch Death Metal band. III the Rommel Chronicles began to take shape in the second half of 2012 when Hail of Bullets started writing songs for this third album, which sees the band approaching things a bit differently lyric wise. Instead of describing a certain campaign or theater of war, this album focuses on the military life, rise and fall of German field marshal Erwin Rommel. Despite fighting on the wrong side, Rommel was undeniably a great strategist who was both feared and admired by his enemies. Musically, III the Rommel Chronicles recalls a bit of their debut album. The songs are faster, more raw, more aggressive and direct than on on Divine Winds which had a more epic, heroic feel. Once again, production duties were handled by Ed Warby and the album was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö."III The Rommel Chronicles" is a CD by Dutch death metal band Hail Of Bullets, released via the renowned metal label Metal Blade Records. On this concept album, the band continues its trademark blend of old-school death metal and historically themed lyrics, focusing on the North African campaigns and the military career of Erwin Rommel during World War II. Massive, tank-like guitar riffs, thunderous drumming and deep, commanding growls create a cinematic battlefield atmosphere, while the mid-tempo grooves and occasional faster assaults keep the songs varied and intense. Lyrically, the record presents a sober, narrative view of war, concentrating on strategy, hardship and devastation rather than glorification, making it a powerful and grim listening experience for fans of heavy, history-laden metal. The production is heavy yet clear, allowing every riff and drum hit to cut through while still sounding raw and organic.
