"Spellbound" is an album on CD by the visionary percussionist and composer Trilok Gurtu, released by the label Moosicus / Indigo. On this recording, Gurtu explores the borderlands between Indian rhythm traditions, contemporary jazz and atmospheric world music, creating a soundscape that is both meditative and rhythmically electrifying. The pieces are characterized by intricate percussion patterns, subtle melodic motifs and a spacious production that allows every nuance of his playing to breathe. "Spellbound" is conceived as a deeply immersive listening experience: rather than relying on sheer virtuosity, the album focuses on mood, dynamics and the organic dialogue between drums, percussion and melodic textures, inviting the listener into a trance-like, contemplative journey.

Trilok Gurtu, born in India and long active on the international scene, is one of the most influential percussionists in world and jazz music. Over several decades he has collaborated with major figures of contemporary jazz and world fusion and has earned a reputation for seamlessly merging Indian rhythmic concepts with Western improvisation. His previous works and performances at renowned festivals have made him a reference point for boundary-pushing, cross-cultural music and an inspiration for a whole generation of drummers and percussionists.

The CD format of "Spellbound" emphasizes the album's carefully designed sound architecture: the dynamic range, the depth of the acoustic space and the fine gradations of timbre are best appreciated in attentive, uninterrupted listening. This makes the disc ideal both for focused, audiophile sessions and for creating an atmospheric backdrop in sophisticated living-room or lounge settings.

Moosicus / Indigo is a label and distributor known for carefully curated productions in jazz, singer-songwriter and high-quality popular music. Rather than chasing short-lived trends, the company focuses on long-term artistic development and audiophile sound quality. Releases on Moosicus / Indigo often feature meticulous recording techniques, tasteful artwork and a strong trust in the artistic vision of their musicians. "Spellbound" fits seamlessly into this philosophy and underlines the label's commitment to inspiring, musically and sonically refined releases.
