Cette anthologie soigneusement construite met en lumière la sonorité chaleureuse et chantante de son violoncelle, son intensité émotionnelle et son sens inné de la phrase musicale dans des oeuvres majeures du répertoire. Le programme propose des concertos emblématiques ainsi que des pages de musique de chambre plus intimiste, offrant un panorama très complet de son art. La trajectoire de Jacqueline du Pré est devenue mythique dans l'histoire de la musique: propulsée très tôt sur la scène internationale, elle s'impose par des interprétations d'une franchise et d'une intensité rares, en particulier dans le Concerto pour violoncelle d'Elgar, dont son enregistrement reste l'un des plus célèbres.
