 | | Description: | â??After the Warâ?? is the seventh solo studio album by the Northern Irish guitarist Gary Moore, original released in 1989 by Virgin Records. This version is the remastered 2002 version. It contains elements of Celtic music. The instrumental "Dunluce" is named after Dunluce Castle in Northern Ireland. On "Led Clones", Ozzy Osbourne, with whom Moore had worked before the singer united with Randy Rhoads, shares lead vocals. The song pokes fun at bands such as Kingdom Come which were popular at the time, and is based on a Led Zeppelin-type sound and image. "That song was great fun," Ozzy recalled, "and it was an honour to record with Gary." The Sisters of Mercy frontman, Andrew Eldritch, provides backing vocals on the songs "After the War", "Speak for Yourself" and "Blood of Emeralds". Moore again pays tribute to the memory of his long-time friend and colleague Phil Lynott with the song "Blood of Emeralds". - 'After the War' is the seventh solo studio album by the Northern Irish guitarist Gary Moore, original released in 1989 by Virgin Records. Known for his expressive guitar work, emotive vocals and blend of hard rock, blues rock and melodic ballads, Moore delivers an album full of punch, technical finesse and intense feeling. The remaster offers improved clarity, a more defined stereo image and enhanced dynamics, allowing the riffs, solos and subtle details to shine while remaining faithful to the character of the original recordings. Fans can expect an engaging listening experience that highlights both the heavier rock tracks and the more atmospheric, melodic moments that made "After the War" a fan favorite. This CD edition is designed for listeners who value physical media and high-quality sound, whether they are long-time fans rediscovering the album or newcomers exploring Moore's classic late-1980s period. The sequence of songs creates a coherent journey from energetic, riff-driven pieces to more reflective passages, showcasing Moore's versatility as both a guitarist and a songwriter. The remastered sound makes this version particularly interesting for audiophiles who want to hear the nuances of his phrasing, vibrato and tone. Gary Moore (1952-2011) is celebrated as one of the most influential guitarists of his generation. Born in Belfast, he first gained attention with the band Skid Row (not to be confused with the later US band) and reached a wider rock audience with Thin Lizzy, where his expressive style and melodic sensibility stood out. Over the years he built a distinguished solo career that moved confidently between hard rock and blues. He is especially known for the emotional impact and guitar work on songs such as "Parisienne Walkways" and "Still Got the Blues", which have become standards for rock and blues guitarists worldwide. His ability to combine technical brilliance with heartfelt expression has earned him lasting respect among musicians and fans alike. The CD is released by Virgin, a label that has played a significant role in modern music history. Founded in the early 1970s, Virgin quickly became known for signing innovative and often genre-defining artists, helping to shape rock, pop and alternative music across several decades. As part of the Virgin catalogue, this remastered edition benefits from the label's long experience in high-quality audio releases and careful catalogue management. Virgin's reputation for supporting artistically ambitious projects and for maintaining a strong back catalogue underscores the significance of this reissue, making "After the War (Remastered)" a valuable addition both for collectors and for anyone interested in classic rock and guitar-driven music. | | | No. of tracks: |
