« Liege & Lief » est un album emblématique du groupe britannique de folk-rock Fairport Convention, sorti en 1969 et considéré comme l'un des disques les plus influents du genre. Proposé ici au format CD, ce chef-d''uvre met en avant la fusion novatrice entre le folklore anglais traditionnel et les éléments rock propre à Fairport Convention. Des titres phares tels que « Matty Groves », « Tam Lin » ou encore « Farewell, Farewell » sont devenus incontournables dans le répertoire folk britannique contemporain. Le fabricant Island Records s'est imposé depuis sa création en 1959 comme une référence pour la qualité de ses productions et son soutien aux artistes visionnaires ; cette édition ne fait pas exception à la règle avec un soin particulier apporté au son et à la présentation de l'album original. Véritables pionniers du folk électrique anglais, Fairport Convention ont marqué durablement leur époque par leurs nombreux succès discographiques et leur influence internationale.

This is the fourth album of a folk progressive rock band from Britain, which was released in 1969. Sandy Denny's vocals are on this album. The vocals are wonderful. Subsequently, this vocalist left the group. Interestingly, I learned about this group precisely because of Sandy. Because, I have her solo album.
