Just for the sake of "Anarchy In The U.K. & "Mary Jane it is worth buying this Megadeath. An absolute thrash metal classic.

The third studio album by American thrash metal band Megadeth, released on January 19, 1988. The album received positive feedback from music critics at the time of its release. I recommend.

This is the third studio album by the American thrash metal band. It was released in 1988. This remastered version (2004) contains bonus tracks, a nice addition. Interestingly, the guitarist from the Sex Pistols Steve Jones took part in the recording of one of the bonus tracks. I recommend to buy!

Certainly one of Megadeth's classic "golden times" albums. Great work from the 80s with the spirit of its time. Health to the ageless Mr. Mustaine!

Worthy successor of Peace Sells and it only gets better on the next two. Must have for all thrash fans.

On the third album of the classic thrash band MegadetH, its leader Dave Mustaine (I recall that in the eighties he was practically the only composer and songwriter of MegadetH, despite frequent changes in composition) tried, it seems to me, to repeat MetallicA's recipe for success. And the album turned out to be diverse, but in some places, it seems to me, too contrasting. Surely this is exactly what many critics paid attention to, who considered this album the worst with MegadetH. Of course, I strongly disagree with this. The beginning is followed by a good instrumental “Intro the Lungs of Hell” and an amazing thrash version of the song Sex Pistols “Anarchy in the U.K”. The excellent compositions “Mary Jane” & ”In My Darkest Hour” are very similar in spirit to MetallicA (the introduction to the last track very much resembles “For Whom the Bell Tolls”), but both end with a “downhole” thrash. The song “Hook in Mouth” is all at a steady pace. But the three remaining tracks are closer to the early MegadetH, not very melodic and differ in a sort of “crushing” solo parts. These things, exclusively in my opinion, are slightly disharmonious in the general, melodic sound. It was this album that, perhaps, gave critics the opportunity to classify MegadetH as mere imitators of MetallicA, and to fix the nickname “second MetallicA” for them. The next album (like all subsequent ones) of the group showed how these critics were mistaken! The texts of the disc as a whole were not as conceptual as on the previous album, but each individually reveals very serious topics, such as: nuclear war in the track “Set the World Afire” (the cover of the disc is dedicated to this song), the dangers of speedway in the track “502 ”, The theme of loneliness and alienation (“ Mary Jane ”,” In My Darkest Hour ”), the theme of lies and censorship by the authorities (“ Liar ”,“ Hook in Mouth ”). Dave's writing “In My Darkest Hour” was, among other things, dedicated to the tragic death of Cliff Burton.

Good album of Megadeth. Although their 2nd, 4th album are masterpieces, this album is cool too. Kinda underrated album I think.

fairly decent album, but not a great one. Its strongest songs are excellent to superb, with the likes of Mary Jane and Into the Lungs of Hell being part of the former and Set the World Afire and In My Darkest Hour being part of the later group. Unfortunately, the weaker songs are, well, uninteresting and nock the album down a few points

The last of the drug-boundless albums of Megadeth (as I remember from history), followed by the forced treatment of Mustaine from drug addiction and the invitation to the group of the virtuoso guitarist Marty Friedman, who differed despite all his virtuosity by a completely curved formulation of the right hand (tentatively called "Pain and tears "). And until all this cleansing from the old foundations has happened, the same "So Far, So Good ... So What!" - Extremely "Mustainish" album, without the influence of drug treatment and medics. Virtually all the compositions can be hung on a wall in a frame, in my opinion, except for "Set the World Afire", "502" and "Liar" - these 3 are somewhat weaker than others. A special place is occupied by one of the Megadeth's hymns - "In My Darkest Hour". This item is dedicated to Cliff Burton, with whom Dave played at the dawn of a misty youth in Metallica. In general, a very melodic and loose album impregnated with the history and gloomy fun of that time.
